There are three primary ways in which you are assessed in MTF.

  • [ Writing ]
My goal is for you to engage in an extended research endeavor that yields a high-quality piece of writing.
  • [ Speaking ]
We will continue our focus on fundamentals, but increase the amount of practice we have giving “formal” presentations.
  • [ Discussion ]
It is critical that you take active part in discussion, and (further) learn to take notes during discussions so that you can recall and learn from what was said.

I am tempted to require an “idea book” of you this term as well – a notebook where you keep track of not just new ideas, but things that stand out as you are reading, studying, and going about your daily life. We’ll discuss it.

I have created separate pages for each of these areas of assessment that provide you with some detail regarding the assessment of your writing, speaking, and in-class discussions.
