In this class, we will engage in making in two specific ways:

  • [ Writing ]
    We will research and report on an innovator, company, or movement that we feel is shaping the world we live in. The results of our accumulated efforts will be combined into a book.
  • [ Building ]
    We will build and discuss the process of making a computational artifact based on open technologies available today.

Before spring break, we will be sprinting hard on our research and writing. In two months, you will generate 20 pages of excellent text, having gone through multiple phases of writing and editing. After the break, we’ll transition to building, reading, and discussion, allowing us to enjoy a (somewhat) relaxed end to the semester.

Of course, we’re going to talk about all of this shortly, and a few things may change. At which point, I’ll update the overview.
